If you are wondering what happened, no, I haven’t disappeared off the face of the Earth just yet (be it flat or round, whatever floats your fancy)… I simply quit all social media on a whim and life has been wonderful. How and why? I just woke up one day and I decided it has served its purpose for me, so I deleted all my pages and the profile I had created to maintain them.
“Besides the noble art of getting things done, there is the noble art of leaving things undone. The wisdom of life consists in the elimination of non-essentials.”
Almost 10 years ago I very reluctantly joined Facebook, only in hopes to reunite with my childhood best friend from school, with whom we had completely lost touch. Not even a few months after I created my account, she joined Facebook for the same reasons and we were overjoyed to find each other again. Subsequently, I very successfully utilized social media to promote my blog for Washington, MO and my photography business, as well as keeping up with friends and family back in Bulgaria. When I went to Hawaii I took a beautiful break from it all, and since then I’ve been using social media as a tool to align with people who share the same vibe and consciousness. However, I am done with it for now.
“Any intelligent fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius — and a lot of courage to move in the opposite direction.”
If life is but a dream within a dream, there is a collective dream we share and a personal dream each one of us weaves for themselves. Currently the planet is shifting in consciousness from fear/lack to love/abundance, and in the process we get to face a lot of our fears and examine some deeply rooted beliefs. The Earth is nothing but a classroom, and we are souls in bodies here to learn our lessons at whatever rate we choose. To be present means to be in this world but not of it – merged with oneness, yet functioning as an individual personality. Once you’ve realized you are it and your thoughts/beliefs /feelings create the dream, you can choose carefully what you’d like to see manifest. Where attention goes, energy flows and all is energy indeed. You can read and hear a certain truth a thousand times, but unless you experience it, it will never become knowledge. This is precisely what we are here for – to experience it all and remember who we truly are.
“There is no greatness where there is not simplicity, goodness, and truth.”
No guru, no teacher, no wise man can tell you what you need to do, only you know. The question is, do you trust that? I do, so I have completely surrendered to life to live me. The unknown has never been so delicious, defying all rationality and simply being submerged in the mystery. As the seed knows perfectly well what it needs to be and does its thing at the right time, I believe that all comes to me when needed and there is no use to worry whether it would.
“If you will stay close to nature, to its simplicity, to the small things hardly noticeable, those things can unexpectedly become great and immeasurable.”
― Rainer Maria Rilke, Letters to a Young Poet
The world has become such a noisy place, where we are constantly bombarded with the opinions and ideas of others on how we should live our lives. One article can claim that coffee is good for you, and the other might blame it as the root cause for poor health (or whatever else). How can you know who to trust? If you can remain really really quiet for some time – with no activity, being physical or mental one – you just might start hearing a tiny little voice coming from the inside. No, it’s not crazy and what is normal, anyway? You have an inner light, a compass, your heart/soul knows what is best for you. Take the time and listen. Once you hear, follow. People will always have opinions on what is wrong or right, but you know better that such distinctions don’t exist. Just do your thing. Go after what feels good, if it starts to feel off, adjust the course and keep going. In any case, this is what I have been doing and I am only sharing it for sharing is caring and I care about you 😉
“She is free in her wildness, she is a wanderess, a drop of free water. She knows nothing of borders and cares nothing for rules or customs. ‘Time’ for her isn’t something to fight against. Her life flows clean, with passion, like fresh water.”
You are more powerful than you know – take the power you have given to outside sources back and revel in it. We are here to love all, for we are one big family. There is no need to compare ourselves to others, everyone has their value. Once we reconcile all differences within, we wake up to a wonderful world without. When you are full inside, you don’t strive to fill the lack with things from the outside. The abundance within is matched by blessings without. Don’t take my word for it, try it and see for yourself it works.
“A woman must prefer her liberty over a man. To be happy, she must.
A man to be happy, however, must yearn for his woman more than his liberty.
This is the rightful order.”
My life is very simple these days. I am almost 36, happily divorced, single by choice, living with two amazingly adorable cats, blessed with good friends, enjoying what I do, playing with creative projects and supporting myself on my own. I don’t live according to anyone’s rules and I owe no explanation to anyone. There are a lot of things I have come to realize I do not need, and my focus has been on experiences rather than possessions. I derive pleasure in the ordinary moments of life – a sunrise, my cats, a chat with a friend, picking tomatoes from the garden, baking goodies for my neighbors, smiling at people I know or I don’t know, visiting new places.
“And I learned what is obvious to a child. That life is simply a collection of little lives, each lived one day at a time. That each day should be spent finding beauty in flowers and poetry and talking to animals. That a day spent with dreaming and sunsets and refreshing breezes cannot be bettered. But most of all, I learned that life is about sitting on benches next to ancient creeks with my hand on her knee and sometimes, on good days, for falling in love.”
My grandma can attest to the fact that I have been pretty independent since a little girl. Recently in a conversation with a friend I declared that I am just going to do what I want and see what happens. He retorted, “But, haven’t you always been doing that?” I replied, “Yes, I guess you are right…” hahahaha 🙂 To be honest, most of the time I have no clue what I am doing, it is akin to walking into an uncharted territory and carving a new path. However, when I get a strong gut feeling, I always go for it and it never fails to bring me what I need. It’s easy to live like this.
“I’m no model lady. A model’s just an imitation of the real thing.”
I still believe in true love and that people are kind by nature, and I see examples of this everywhere I go, precisely because I believe in it. Each day is a gift, and I delight in all that it brings without categorizing it into “good” or “bad”, simply accepting it as is. I love and I am getting really good at it 🙂
“Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.”―
P.S. I still love doing photography, so feel free to call/e-mail me if you need me.
“Do not stop thinking of life as an adventure. You have no security unless you can live bravely, excitingly, imaginatively; unless you can choose a challenge instead of competence.”
“I was an adventurer, but she was not an adventuress. She was a ‘wanderess.’ Thus, she didn’t care about money, only experiences – whether they came from wealth or from poverty, it was all the same to her.”
