Let’s talk about…

You guessed it. SEX or rather, Sexual Energy which also happens to be our Life Force energy.  If this topic makes you cringe, you find it uncomfortable, or taboo, this is your invitation to keep reading because this blog post is not at all about what you think.

How do we come into this world? It usually takes a man, a woman, ideally united in love,    expressing it through their bodies. Sex marks the beginning of our conception. So, if this is where we come from into the physical world, why are we so ashamed of our sexuality and expressing it in a healthy way? I don’t want to go deep into this topic, there is plenty of material online that you can research at your leisure. Let’s just say that somewhere along the line when we were little we put on a heavy cloak of old-fashioned beliefs and conditioning, aiming to manipulate, rather than liberate us.

The sky is always changing. Why do we choose to stay stuck, it is in our nature to evolve.

Sexual energy is not Playboy, it is not pornography, it is not at all restricted to lovemaking alone. It’s our energy of creation, when we suppress it or express it in an unhealthy way, we suffer. It’s the force that makes Life come into being over and over again in a multitude of forms and expressions  – from a baby, to a garden, to artwork, to making a meal, practicing a craft, writing a book, performing a sport and pretty much anything that involves a creation of some kind. When it comes to our sexuality, it is neither good nor bad, it simply is and we are it. There are no rules about how we choose to allow it to express itself through us into the world, as long as we are being respectful of all other life forms. It shows up as vitality, aliveness, playfulness, exuberance, gaiety, movement, flow, excitement, sparkle in the eye.

This is it.

I realized that I’ve been programmed to keep myself small, and I have been fighting against the boundaries and limitations, until I decided why fight against them when they only exist as outdated thought forms in my mind, anyway. All my relationships and life situations have been and still are a wonderful mirror reflecting to me the parts of myself I haven’t yet embraced, assuming they were unlovable or bad. So the deeper into myself I go, excavating suppressed pieces of my true unique expression and meeting them with love, compassion and understanding, the more my fullness is being reflected by the outside world. I’ve been attracting friends and clients who have also met themselves on a deeper level and we can express ourselves authentically in honesty and truth. The moment that I started meeting my own needs, without looking for validation or approval from the outside, was when I took full responsibility for my own life. Existence in a body is too short and fleeting to be anything that we are not, and there is so much freedom when we stop caring about the opinions of others. Would you rather play pretend and have 50 friends, or be unapologetically you and have 10 people that get you and love you just the way you are? Not everybody needs to like us, it’s ok that we are all different.

It’s time we took sexual energy out of the closet and into the world and started creating with it. What vital parts of you are you suppressing out of fear of being too much? Are you hiding your authentic sexual expression because you think you will be judged? We are not supposed to fit in, we are here to stand out. How boring it would be if we were all the same? When it comes to our being into the world, we need to put aside all limiting beliefs we have adopted and allow the Life Force to fully express ourselves though us. This is what all revolutionaries who left their legacy to humanity did. I no longer wish to feel guilty or shamed for the fact that Shakti runs through my body, that I am a living expression of the divine power that breathes us all. Whether it shows in the way I walk, talk, create, make tea, laugh, throw glass bottles in the recycling center, dance, express my emotions, make love, I choose to celebrate who I am. Shakti is no different than the flow of a river, the bud on a flower in spring, the laughter of a child, the playfulness of a young kitten, the eruption of a volcano, the Life that runs through everything.

My wish for everyone I photograph is to hold space full of love and acceptance so you can feel safe to express who you truly are. So you can shine all of your light, without fearing that you need to dim it down because it might be too bright. Maybe there will be parts of you that will come out which you have never expressed before – allow them to be seen. There is no wrong way of being You in the world – just by virtue of existing you are enough the way you are. Instead of adding this, that and the next thing that only make us assume we are born in lack, let’s choose to strip down all that is not us so we can arrive to the source of abundance. Each one of us is a unique expression of the life force, and we are here to unfold our own myth.

“There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all of time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium, and be lost. The world will not have it.
It is not your business to determine how good it is, nor how valuable, nor how it compares with other expressions. It is your business to keep it yours, clearly and directly, to keep the channel open.
You do not even have to believe in yourself or your work. You have to keep open and aware directly to the urge that motivates you.”
Keep the channel open.

Martha Graham

There is no one stopping us but us. Let’s choose together as men and women to honor our own sexuality and the expression of the Life Force in others. By transforming the judgment, blame, resistance, comparison, control, separation and suppression within we manifest a new reality of acceptance, allowing, cooperation, unity, and liberation without. It is only when we shine a light to our own darkness and transmute it, that we can make peace with the outside world. We did not come from sin, we were born out of Love. When we look within and uncover the Divine Spark, we connect with ourselves and others. Rooted, we heal and rise together as one.

“I understood that every flower created by Him is beautiful, that the brilliance of the rose and the whiteness of the lily do not lessen the perfume of the violet or the sweet simplicity of the daisy. I understood that if all the lowly flowers wished to be roses, nature would lose its springtide beauty, and the fields would no longer be enameled with lovely hues. And so it is in the world of souls, our Lord’s living garden.”
– St There’s of Lisieux (Little Flower)
